DIGITAL HORIZONS is Weymouth College Media Department's annual showcase for graduating Level 3 Film & TV and Animation students, and it is an opportunity for them to screen the practical element(s) of their Final Major Projects on the big screen in Cineworld Weymouth to family, friends and members of the public.
The Digital Horizons event has been running for five years and averages an audience of around 400 people, always screening in July and for one night only; this year, due to the current Covid 19 crisis, the showcase has moved online.
As students have not been able to complete their Final Major Projects this year, the selection of films on offer for Digital Horizons 2020 is drawn from their previous assignments, projects that have seen them create scripted narrative pieces, multi-cam productions, fashion films, music videos, motion graphics and much more. To find out more detail on the ideas behind each student's project that features on this site, visit their individual film pages to read about the assignments they were working on and what inspired them.
Our students usually have 13 weeks to work on their Final Major Projects, an appropriate length of time to complete the very polished pieces from which their final grades will be awarded, this year these students have not had that opportunity, but we feel that the work they have created during the last two years is more than worthy of sharing and showcasing - Please join us to celebrate the fantastic work our Weymouth College students have created!
